Aboriginal Diocesan Pastoral Council 2025 – Walking Together in Faith
The Aboriginal Diocesan Pastoral Council (ADPC) 2025 gathered this September at Nungalinya College, bringing together 70 participants, including 55 Aboriginal leaders from 18 communities across the Northern Territory.
Over three days, participants entered into a rich time of sharing, reflection, listening, and prayer, discerning how God is calling the Church in the Northern Territory to walk together in faith and service.
Beyond the formal daytime sessions, the gathering was also marked by three nights of prayer, song, praise, and dance. These moments of cultural expression and spiritual depth highlighted the beauty and vitality of Aboriginal Catholic life, affirming the deep faith of the communities represented.
Bishop Charles Gauci expressed his gratitude for the wisdom and commitment of the leaders present, noting the blessing of unity and the Spirit-led conversations shaping the way forward. He encouraged all to keep the council in prayer, so that the fruits of these days may strengthen the Church’s mission across the Territory.
As the ADPC concluded, there was a renewed sense of hope, faith, and shared responsibility for the journey ahead — a journey of listening to the Holy Spirit, honouring culture, and serving together as the People of God.
