Alice Springs Student Asks Bishop About Priesthood: A Journey of Growth and Learning
In a recent engaging Q&A session, Luke, a curious student from Alice Springs, posed a thought-provoking question to Cathcroc. Luke inquired about the challenges involved in the preparation for priesthood. In response, Cathcroc turned to Bishop Charles, a seasoned priest, for an insightful answer.
“Luke, it takes a lot of time to prepare to be a priest because part of the preparation is to grow as a human being, as a human person, and be mature, and that takes time. It doesn’t happen all at once. Then there is learning to do. It’s not too hard and it is challenging, but not too hard because a priest needs to be able to guide and help others,” Bishop Charles explained.
Bishop elaborated on his personal journey, highlighting the significance of both academic and personal growth in the seminary. “I enjoyed my seminary training. It was seven years after high school. It’s a long time ago now, but I really value what I learned then and I am still learning. We never stop learning. All of us were just priests, but we all need to keep learning. And I, by the way, enjoy being a priest.”
He concluded with an encouraging message, underscoring the importance of continuous learning and personal development. “God bless you,” he added warmly.
Cathcroc and Bishop continue to invite more students to engage with them, encouraging questions about God and the wonders of the world.
This heartwarming exchange between Luke and Bishop serves as a reminder of the enduring commitment and personal growth required in the journey to priesthood, as well as the importance of nurturing curiosity and learning in young minds.
