Today, we rejoice with Bishop Charles, as he celebrates his 46th year of priesthood. Like so many of our priests in Australia today, Bishop Charles was born overseas, in Malta.
Arriving in Australia as a young boy, he had to adapt to, and learn, a new culture, quite different from his own. Amid all this happening, he recognised the call of God to the priesthood, and responded with great generosity.
It is that hallmark of generosity that saw him accept the call to become the Bishop of Darwin.
Today we congratulate Bishop Charles, and we pray for him, as he continues to spend himself generously among us, in this Diocese of Darwin.
May God continue to bless him.
