CathCroc recently received a thoughtful question from students at Ltyentye Apurte School.
Phoebe, Tahnee, Mariah, Zara and William asked,
“Why is First Holy Communion important?”
It is a question many young people preparing for this special moment might ask. Bishop Charles offered a simple and meaningful response.
First Holy Communion is special because we receive Jesus. It is part of three important steps that help us belong fully to the Christian family. Baptism makes us children of God. First Holy Communion allows us to receive Jesus. Confirmation strengthens us in faith. Each of these helps us grow closer to God and to one another.
Bishop Charles explained it in a simple way. Just as food keeps our body alive, Holy Communion strengthens our spiritual life. When we receive Communion, Jesus is with us in a very real and special way, helping us grow in love and faith.
First Holy Communion is not just a one time event. It is the beginning of a lifelong relationship. Each time we receive Communion, we are reminded that Jesus is always with us. We are invited to speak with Him, trust Him, and live His love in our daily lives.
Bishop Charles encouraged young people to receive Communion with love and respect, knowing that we are receiving Jesus Himself. He reminded us that God’s love for us is constant and never fails.
If you have a question about God or faith, you can send it to CathCroc. Bishop Charles and CathCroc look forward to hearing from you.
