Healing is part of being human. We are all wounded in some way. Sometimes we all make unwise choices. We have ideals and we do not always live up to them. Things happen in our lives, at least sometimes beyond our control, that leave us wounded.
Married life, family life, friendships and so many other relationships do all at times need forgiveness and healing.
All living relationships need healing from time to time. All love needs forgiveness.
Jesus helped so many make fresh starts in their lives.
He forgave sin, he asked us to forgive each other like God forgives us, he spoke about being born again.
Part of healing is being able to name, when possible, the areas that need healing.
Recognising the need for healing is part of the process of healing.
We can deny responsibility, we can pretend that we are not hurt etc.
When we are able to name the area we need healing in, then we can take it to God for healing. Sometimes I cannot name the area of healing.
The desire for healing is itself part of the process of healing.
A healthy regular openness to healing is liberating. St Ignatius of Loyola encouraged daily reflection on our lives.
The first person we need to forgive is ourselves.
We all need to be born again, every day.
