I have noticed that despite my years of training and my convictions, so often I find myself reacting to things that sometimes cause me to worry and distract me.
I do not think that we ever become immune to worry and even varying degrees of some anxiety.
There are times when I find myself being distracted from the moment by an email, a phone call or a text.
We cannot help first reactions. Sometimes the imagination runs away from us, imagining possibilities that never actually happen. Then, I look back and wonder why I had wasted energy in worry about things that never eventuated.
I still believe that the ego has a part to play in a lot of unnecessary waste of energy.
I also believe that a healthy detachment is a work in progress for all who desire to grow as persons, to grow spiritually.
It is about a journey towards freedom.
Jesus told us not to worry about tomorrow but to deal with today.
He also told us not to be anxious and afraid since he has overcome evil and will always be with us.
My peace I give you, a peace that the world cannot give.
Without meditation and prayer we blow every which way by the wind or are like a yo-yo going where someone else determines!
Prayer has a grounding effect calling us back to be centred.
It is indeed a journey requiring us to be patient with ourselves and with others, just like God is patient with us!
Reminding us how deeply and infinitely loved we are.
