We can get so complicated sometimes.
We can worry about the past, the present and the future!
We can go around in circles in our head, our feelings can and do go in many directions.
For many reasons we can develop unhealthy tendencies.
One can be a worrier, one can tend to be anxious, one can have a tendency to be depressed, one can have a tendency to harsh judgment of self and others, etc.
We may not always be able to change these tendencies. However, we can learn to moderate their grip on us and learn to live meaningful lives and learn to live with them.
Jesus called us to learn from children, to become like children.
He did not mean that we become childish.
Children are open, they are like a sponge, soaking it all in; they are not stuck.
A child has a sense of wonder, the new, the magical.
They are fascinated by things we take for granted.
How healthy it is for us to regain a sense of enchantment?
Nature and the beauty of the world around us can be so grounding.
Listening to a bird in song, the sound of the wind, the smell of a flower or a plant, the sparkle of an eye in a beloved and so much more.
Reaching out from loneliness to healthy solitude, making a decision to respect and love another, reaching out to the God who is, are all pathways to balance and wellbeing.
When we give ourselves instead of trying to be too safe, we find ourselves.
