Today is the feast of St Mary Magdalene.
In the scriptures, we are told that Jesus cast out seven demons from her.
She became a disciple of Jesus.
She was forgiven much and she loved much.
She is there at the foot of the cross as Jesus dies.
After the resurrection, she is the first to see Jesus alive again.
He sends her to tell the Apostles that He has risen.
Mary is the Apostle to the Apostles.
She who was forgiven loves much and is the first to recognise the risen Jesus.
She recognises Him when Jesus calls her by name.
We are also called by name.
This same Jesus calls us to healing, forgiveness, and an ability to overcome evil.
We are called to be ‘wounded healers’ able to also be witnesses to the risen Christ.
Our life lived in hope and faithfulness becomes a loving reminder.
Evil can sometimes be very powerful; however, Christ enables us to be children of love life and freedom.
Nothing is more powerful than Jesus Christ.
