We have begun the Triduum or The Three days,
Namely Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter.
They are a bit of a ‘package’, one leading on to the other as the ‘Holy Drama’ unfolds.

Holy Thursday has three aspects to it.
It is about the Last Supper.
Jesus gives us the Eucharist during the last supper. This was during the ritual remembering of the Jewish Exodus and liberation from Egypt. The Old Covenant between God and the Jewish People is celebrated during this meal.
Jesus now ushers the New Covenant.
He connects what he is doing at the Last Supper with what is about to happen on the cross on the following day on Good Friday. ‘My body given up for you’, ‘My blood shed for you’.

The second part of this day is about service. He washed the feet of the Disciples! This was shocking to them!! He did what a servant or a slave would do.
Then he says, ‘I have given you an example, wash each other’s feet’.
The life of a disciple of Jesus is one of loving service.

After the last supper he goes to the garden of Gethsemane. Here he is in agony. He could see what was coming and experiences deep distress.
Dispute this trauma he remains faithful to the Abba or ‘Father’.

In Jesus we hear the cry of humanity. We hear our story.
