Today three years ago I was Ordained Bishop of the Darwin/Northern Territory Diocese.
I remember the many feelings going through me that day.
I knew that I had to surrender myself into the Grace of God.
As I lay on the floor of the Cathedral during the Litany of the Saints, I was still surprised at the events happening around me.
I remember saying at the end of the ceremony ‘I am now a Territorian’
I meant it!
The people of the Diocese and I are now bonded in a very real and Graced way.
It has been a great learning time!
Pope Francis has again reminded all of us that the only way forward as a Church is to be a:
We are all gifted by the Spirit and called to work together as a Church community and family. We are in ‘this’ together.
We are all called to be a servant Church, a humble Church, a joyful Church.
As we approach the Plenary council we pray for humble listening.
We pray for healing in our weakness.
We trust in the one who promises to turn everything to good for.
‘We are Church’, because of Jesus.
