Like a parched weary land without water

As I was flying back to Darwin from Alice Springs this week, I was struck by a number of features of the landscape of central Australia underneath.

The land was dry… a mixture of brown red and green.

It was beautiful and striking… spiritual…

It also struck me as an analogy of human life.

We are incredibly beautiful with great potential… we can also be arid…

The vegetation underneath was alive and even vibrant despite the arid environment.

They found nutrition and moisture.

We can at times be arid and dry.

We would perish if it were not for the nutrition and life-giving water of the Holy Spirit …

So many concerns… challenges…

Lent reminds us that we are not trapped, prisoners of the past.

We are not prisoners of past pain, past sins…

We are the beloved daughters and sons of God…

We can indeed be born again in Jesus…

Our Way, Truth, and Life…
