I woke up this morning, looked at the clock, and decided that it was too early to get up.
I started to think of all the things that I had to attend to, and some of the challenges that this brought with it. I could not get back to sleep .
Once again I was reminded of my frailty .
Once again I had to remind myself that I need to trust the grace of God, which as St Paul says, helps us to understand the meaning of ‘when I am weak, then I am strong‘.
This seems like a paradox and indeed it is!
I have a tendency to want to ‘fix’ things, wanting things to be normal .
In reality, it is normal for things not to be normal!
Paul says ‘it is not I who lives, but Christ lives in me‘.
Jesus rebukes the Disciples for not having enough faith as he walks on water towards them in the middle of the sea, in ‘rough‘ weather, when they were trapped in fear .
Meditation and prayer keep reminding us to trust and to have faith in promises given to us .
It is not the easy road, but the narrow path that leads to life!
Paul was told ‘my grace is enough for you’.
We do not need to be trapped in anxiety .
This time of lent invites us to renewal in faith and trust !
We are reminded to live moment by moment, knowing that God’s love and embrace surrounds us .
