Do Animals Go to Heaven? A MacKillop Student’s Question Touches Hearts and Minds

When Clancy Stevens, a student from MacKillop Catholic College, posed a question that has stirred wonder for generations—“Do animals go to heaven?”—it sparked a thoughtful and heartfelt exchange with Bishop Charles Gauci.

In a captivating response, Bishop Charles shared his deep love for animals, revealing how they’ve always been a cherished part of his life. “I have dogs, I have birds, and I love listening to animals. They’re a beautiful part of God’s creation,” he said, emphasising that God’s plan encompasses all of creation.

While admitting that some mysteries of faith are beyond human understanding, Bishop Charles reassured Clancy that animals are embraced by God’s love. “Somehow, in God’s love, they will end up in goodness,” he explained, referencing the Christian belief that all of creation benefits from Jesus’ redemptive love.

Clancy’s thoughtful question highlights the curiosity and faith of young minds, opening a dialogue that connects spirituality with the natural world. As Bishop Charles reminded viewers, God’s creation is vast, intricate, and filled with love—even for the smallest creatures.
