Fr Shehan Welcomes New NET Team to Transform Darwin’s Youth

Darwin’s youth ministry has welcomed its latest team of dedicated missionaries as part of the NET (National Evangelization Teams) program for 2025. The team, made up of young men and women from across Australia and the United States, is eager to bring faith, hope, and inspiration to the region’s young people.

Father Shehan, Director of Youth Ministry, made the exciting announcement, introducing the new team and their mission.

“NET Team is a group of young people who dedicate themselves to Christ and His mission,” said Fr. Shehan. “They are passionate about working with youth and young adults across the diocese, helping them develop a deeper relationship with their faith in Christ.”

Meet the Team

Each team member brings a unique story and passion for spreading the faith. Kait Bowers, from the United States, shared that her own transformation through a missionary led her to commit herself to the same mission.

“A missionary brought me into a relationship with Jesus, and it totally changed my life,” she said. “I couldn’t keep that to myself. I know what it’s like to be in young people’s shoes, and I want them to experience the same love that I have for Jesus.”

James Gillispie, from the Gold Coast, expressed his enthusiasm about engaging with youth in the Northern Territory.

“I’m looking forward to sharing my story with the youth of Darwin this year,” he said.

Ella Smith, from Port Macquarie, said she felt a strong calling to join NET Ministries and serve in Darwin.

“I’m so excited to meet young people and help them find a personal relationship with Jesus,” she said.

Kai Asnicar, from Brisbane, recalled the impact that faith-filled individuals had on his own spiritual journey.

“The people I met when I was younger, who were so alive and full of faith and hope, really helped me in my relationship with Jesus,” Kai said. “I want to be that person for the youth of Darwin and help them grow in faith.”

Arabella Farrugia, from Adelaide, also emphasized her passion for inspiring young people.

“I felt really called to this mission,” she said. “I hope to inspire and bring hope to the young people of Darwin.”

A Year of Faith and Growth

The NET team will spend the year engaging with youth through retreats, parish events, and school visits, offering mentorship and guidance to those seeking a deeper connection with their faith.

With their diverse backgrounds and shared commitment to ministry, the 2025 NET team is poised to make a meaningful impact on the young people of Darwin. As they begin their journey, the community is encouraged to welcome them warmly and support them in their mission.

“Let us show them a warm welcome by saying hi and showing support,” Fr. Shehan urged.

The community now eagerly awaits the work of this dedicated group as they embark on a year of faith, service, and transformation.
