Fr Rodrigo Tomala Mujica | Jubilee Year of Hope: A Journey Towards Grace and Freedom

As part of the ongoing series reflecting on the Jubilee Year of Hope, this month Fr Rodrigo Tomala Mujica, Parish Priest of Humpty Doo, shared his personal insights into what this special year means for him.

Fr Rodrigo mentioned that, for him, the pilgrimage of hope is deeply connected to the spirit of this Jubilee — a year marked by grace, freedom, and rest, much like the experience of the people of Israel in Scripture.

He explained that the heart of this year lies in receiving the grace to have not only the eternal consequences of sin forgiven, but also the temporal consequences. Fr Rodrigo mentioned that this experience of forgiveness opens the way to true freedom, allowing one to grow in holiness.

“Free from my struggles, I can better serve the people of God,” Fr Rodrigo mentioned. He reflected on how this freedom enables a deeper conversion and renews his capacity to serve his community with greater joy and dedication.

Fr Rodrigo emphasised that this journey is not solely about personal transformation, but also about becoming a more effective instrument of God’s love and compassion.

As the Jubilee Year of Hope continues, Fr Rodrigo’s reflections invite all of us to embrace God’s liberating grace, seek greater holiness, and dedicate ourselves anew to serving one another with open and joyful hearts.
