Today we celebrate the Feast Day of St Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Marist Brothers – a time to give thanks for his vision, his faith, and his enduring legacy in the mission of education and formation.
St Marcellin believed deeply in the dignity of every young person and the power of education to transform lives. His legacy continues to inspire the Marist community today, including here in our own Diocese.
We give thanks for the long and faithful history of the Marist Brothers in our Diocese – in schools, in formation, and in parish ministry. We especially acknowledge Br Geoff Kelly FMS, who continues this mission today in Santa Teresa Parish.
On this Feast Day, I offer heartfelt thanks to the Marist Brothers and the wider Marist Family for their generous contribution to the life of our Church in the Northern Territory.
St Marcellin Champagnat, pray for us.
