Today we honour the feast of Saint Magdalene of Canossa, Foundress of the Canossian Daughters of Charity, Servants of the Poor (FDCC), and the Canossian Sons of Charity (FdCC).
We give thanks for the dedicated presence of the Canossian Sisters in our Diocese. Over the years, they have generously ministered in many ways — including their time running Bakhita House, offering refuge and support to those in need.
At present, they continue their pastoral work in the St Paul’s Catholic Community Nightcliff, reaching out not only to the parish community but also to the Italian and Timorese communities.
We especially thank God for the relatively new Canossian community in Wurrumiyanga (Tiwi Islands), where three sisters are actively supporting the Tiwi people through their involvement in school, social work, and pastoral ministry.
We are also grateful for Sr Jessika Trieu, who serves on our Youth Ministry team while also contributing to the work of Caritas and Catholic Mission.
Thank you, God, for the presence and ministry of the Canossian Sisters in our midst.
God bless you all.
