Invitation to the Multifaith Gathering for Peace and Justice – Join Us!
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I am writing to extend an invitation to join us at the Multifaith Gathering for Peace and Justice. This gathering, hosted at St Mary’s Star of the Sea Cathedral, Darwin on Smith Street, Darwin, is scheduled for Monday, 11th December at 7 pm.
At this pivotal event, we aim to unite in reflection and prayer, specifically focusing on the pursuit of peace and justice in regions marred by conflict such as Gaza, Palestine, Israel, Ukraine, and others enduring unrest. This initiative embodies our collective commitment to unity amidst diversity, fostering a collaborative pursuit of peace and justice while honouring the distinctiveness of various faith traditions.
While our faiths differ in some significant ways, we strive for mutual respect and understanding, grounded in our shared humanity. It is through this noble endeavour that we emphasise the universal values of respect, love, and the inherent dignity of every individual. Our belief firmly holds that love triumphs above all.
The Multifaith Gathering provides a unique platform for representatives from diverse faith communities to share readings from their sacred texts, focusing on shared concerns. Additionally, moments of silent prayer will be observed, honouring the rich tapestry of our various faith traditions—a testament to the spiritual values essential for global harmony.
Our preparatory meeting on December 5th saw proactive engagement from leaders and representatives of various faith communities across the Northern Territory. This gathering emphasised the unifying strength found in solidarity among people of faith, underscoring the intrinsic rights of individuals and the transformative power of love.
I extend my sincere gratitude to all attendees for their invaluable contributions toward nurturing a harmonious and peaceful society.
I extend an open invitation to all members and communities across the Northern Territory to join us in this significant event. I wholeheartedly welcome individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds to partake in this momentous Multifaith Gathering for Peace and Justice.
Yours in Christ,
+Charles Gauci
