With deep sadness, we have received the news of the sudden passing of Sister Liz Weimers SGS this morning at the retirement village where she had been residing since leaving Ltyentye Apurte, after 12 years of dedicated service. This loss is unexpected and heartbreaking for her congregation, her family in Cairns, and our entire community.
Father Prakash will announce a special prayer vigil this week to honour and remember this remarkable, faith-filled, and courageous woman. Sister Liz’s love for Arrernte culture guided her life, and her service to the people of Ltyentye Apurte will always be remembered.
Rest in peace Sister Liz.
