Kumantjayi Wallace died in Alice Springs tonight. A great, faithful Christian woman, a great Catholic. A great Arrernte culture woman, a wonderful artist, and a beautiful person died in peace with the Eucharist in front of her this evening in Alice Springs.
Last Sunday, she came out of her sick bed to be present at her great-granddaughter’s Baptism in the church. When I went to say goodbye to her on Monday night before I left, she said, ‘I am happy’ and she was and looked very peaceful. She died so peacefully. We entrust her now to the hands of our Lord.
