Today, Catholic Elders from the Kimberley addressed the Bishop’s conference
Today, Catholic Elders from the Kimberley addressed the Bishop’s conference regarding the Mass of the Holy Spirit, which originated in the Broome Diocese and has been in use in Australia for over 50 years. Today, it was formally approved by the Bishop’s conference to be sent to Rome to be formally approved by the Universal Church. This is a great step forward in helping our own Aboriginal people to worship in a way that is most meaningful for them and our loving God within the life of our Catholic Church.
Of course, there are many nations around the country in Australia, and each area will continue to develop the best ways possible to worship God in the most meaningful way within our Catholic family. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide us all so that we can, with due respect, honour all the various cultures that are within our First Nations People.
Aboriginal Ministry needs to be authentically Aboriginal and authentically Catholic; they work together in tandem within the big family of our Catholic Church.
