Today, we celebrate the 59th anniversary of the Priestly Ordination of Emeritus Bishop Eugene Hurley. Bishop Eugene was ordained as a priest for the Port Pirie Diocese, where he lived many years of faithful service within the diocese as a pastor in Whyalla and other parishes within the Diocese.
He was appointed as a Bishop of Port Prie Diocese in 1999 (1999 to 2007) and then appointed as Bishop of the Diocese of Darwin in 2007 (2007 to 2018).
Bishop Eugene is a much-loved pastor who willfully exercises his ministry in retreat work and many other pastor activities.
He still leads a full life of service in the service of God and its people.
